The ARNO Temperament Profile Inventory (sometimes called the ARNO Temperament Inventory) reveals the "hidden problems" that normally take a person in counseling seven or eight sessions to identify. Presently over 3,000 counselors are using this system in their counseling efforts, saving hours and weeks of counseling time and money for their clients. Counselors report over ninety percent 90% accuracy in identifying a person's inborn temperament. 

The ARNO Temperament Profile Inventory does not measure a person's behavior; it identifies a person's inborn temperament. Who we were created to be and who we become through learned behavior can be entirely different. We need to find out who we really are and find ways to become the person we were born to be. Our true self, instead of the person we have learned to be (the masked self).

Dr. Arno(s) has identified a fifth temperament. Traditionally, there have been four temperaments, Melancholy, Sanguine, Choleric and Phlegmatic. The fifth temperament was identified and called the Supine temperament. This identification area describes a person who is a servant and feels that he or she cannot feel complete unless they are serving (or in a position of serving) either humanity as a whole or someone individually. This is very different from the other four Temperament descriptions. It is very important to find out why this temperament feels this way, and the way this temperament will relate to social situations and life with its many ups and downs. So it is with all the temperaments, they all relate to social situations and life circumstances in their unique ways which create their specific needs, and authentic selves. 

The information in the ARNO Temperament Profile Inventory places the counselor in a great position to help their client. The questionnaire that is required to establish the results takes only 8-10 minutes, and a spiral bound, plastic covered booklet is generated (which is my special presentation style!). This is usually about a 15-20 page professionally generated diagnostic report from which ongoing counseling sessions will be developed and guided by. 

THE ADVANTAGES OF THE ARNO TEMPERAMENT PROFILE INVENTORY

As mentioned earlier, this Inventory will save the counselor and client much time and money as the reports come directly to the point without delaying the final outcome, thus creating a shorter counseling time with deep and lasting results. The questionnaire, which takes 8-10 minutes, has 60 questions with results in the form of a Clinical, Personal, Personnel or Youth report, depending on each client's needs. This system enables the counselor to get at the client's root problem, faster and more accurately. 

The ARNO Temperament Profile Inventory identifies the three separate human interactions; Inclusion (social orientation/intellectual energies), Control, (decision making abilities or inabilities) and Affection (interaction in deep relationships). It also identifies each one of these interactions in two ways, 1) Expressed -what we say we want, 2) Wanted - what we really want. 

The ARNO Temperament Profile Inventory identifies a person's temperament in each of the three interaction areas as mentioned above. For example, a person may be a Sanguine in the Inclusion (social) area, a Melancholy in Control (decision making area) and Supine in Affection (the deep relationship area).

The ARNO Temperament Profile Inventory does not measure a person's behavior, like a personality test does. Personality can change throughout the person's life, but a person's temperament does not change. The ARNO Temperament Profile Inventory identifies the person's inborn temperament. Who we become through learned behavior (our personality) can be vastly different from our true self, and from that comes great inter/intra-personal conflict. We need to find out who we were really created to be, our authentic self.
