Accelerated Art Classes

There are many forms of Art Expression that have been proven to help individuals with low self-esteem, lack of self-expression, fear of asserting themselves, fear of failure, fear of the unknown and so on. Christ Cares for You Ministries, Inc. Is known for these types of classes and provides them often for free within the community.

There are other types of Art Expression that have been proven to specifically help with people suffering from trauma such as PTSD. These expressions are not categorized as "therapy" but combine nonetheless some aspects of visual imagery and rapid eye movement, as can be found in Light Bar Trauma Work.

During an art class the client is asked to focus on a traumatic or distressing event "briefly". At the same time the leader will direct the client to look at the Light Bar. Bilateral simulation is believed to activate the brain's information processing systems and facilitate the reorganization of traumatic memory.

Through repeated focusing on the light bar and the traumatic memory "briefly" and engaging in simple art expression experiences which are provided at the class, the art expression helps to desensitize and reprocess the traumatic experience. This type of art expression along with the Light Bar work focuses on changing negative beliefs, emotions, and physiological responses associated with the trauma, reducing distress and symptoms.

Along with this type of art expression a client would be asked to consider their spirituality -only if it were an important aspect of their life.  We are open to ALL people regardless of their spiritual or religious beliefs, races, gender or disabilities.  This avenue of art expression would  include an even deeper level of understanding and healing.
